Prevea’s Family Medicine Residency Programs are primary care medical clinics that are open to the public. Here, we see children and adults of all ages and in all stages of life for a variety of health care needs, including but not limited to general health care.

Family medicine resident physicians and faculty physicians work together, providing patients with a collaborative approach to medical care, and spend time getting to know their patients at each appointment. Whether you’re not feeling well, you need yearly physical or you have a health concern you’ve been struggling with, we’re here for you. The best part? If you’re looking to get in quickly to see a family medicine doctor, we often have same-day and next-day appointments.

Family medicine residency locations

Prevea has residency programs in Eau Claire and Augusta in western Wisconsin, and in Green Bay in eastern Wisconsin.

In western Wisconsin the Prevea Health Family Medicine Residency Program is a partnership between Prevea Health, HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital and the  Wisconsin Northern & Central Graduate Medical Education Consortium (WiNC GME Consortium).

In eastern Wisconsin the MCW-Prevea Family Medicine Residency Program is a partnership between Prevea Health, HSHS St. Vincent Hospital, Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and the  Wisconsin Northern & Central Graduate Medical Education Consortium (WiNC GME Consortium).

Resident program FAQ

Residents are licensed physicians who have completed medical school and are now going through specialized medical training in a particular field of medicine. In this case, the field of medicine is family medicine. They work under the supervision of experienced faculty physicians, providing direct medical care to patients.

There are several benefits to seeking care from our family medicine resident physicians.

You have access to same-day or next-day appointments.
The resident physicians spend time with you at your appointment, getting to know you and your health goals. You'll never feel rushed.
Instead of one physician evaluating and caring for you, you get a second opinion when the resident physician discusses your care plan with the faculty physician.
Family medicine resident physicians care for people of all ages and in all stages of life, for a variety of health care needs. Whether you are feeling sick, have a chronic health condition or you visit the doctor once a year to check up on your health, our resident physicians can care for you.
You are participating in the training of new family medicine physicians and contributing to the future of medicine and improving access to health care.

Resident physicians have a medical degree (MD, DO) – signifying the completion of medical school. During medical school, in addition to advanced science coursework, medical students complete two years of direct patient care in multiple medical specialties.

Yes. All of our resident physicians are licensed by the state of Wisconsin and work under the supervision of an attending physician.

The purpose of the Prevea’s residency programs are for resident physicians to enhance their learning experience for the full spectrum of family medicine so they can follow patients through their entire health care journey – from routine medical care to unexpected health concerns and hospitalization; through pregnancy, labor and delivery, and taking care of newborns; to nursing home and end of life care.
