We are closely following the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

In order to protect our communities and our health care workers from inadvertent exposure to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), we are making regular changes in order to stay up-to-date on the rapidly changing situation and recommendations from the Center of Disease Control, United States Surgeon General and others.

We can’t stress enough how important your health is to us. There is a lot of information circulating about (COVID-19), and it’s important for you to have access to accurate information and as well as resources for your overall health and wellness. For your convenience we have condensed information to make it easier for you to filter through.

Effective Wednesday, Feb. 22, in accordance with Centers of Disease Control guidance, Prevea Health is not requiring masking within our health centers. This does not apply to Prevea Health locations within our HSHS Wisconsin hospital partners.

As we continue to monitor community transmission levels of respiratory illness, Prevea reserves the right to require masking at any time should community transmission levels change.

Please mask if you have a cough or any respiratory symptoms to help protect the health of those around you.

Your health and safety is important to us, and if you would like to wear a mask, please do so. In addition, if you would prefer members of your care team mask, please let the check-in desk know. 

Throughout the pandemic, Wisconsin Department of Health Services’ (DHS) COVID-19 Community Testing Support Program partnered with organizations like Prevea Health to provide local, convenient COVID-19 testing sites at no cost to patients. With the federal public health emergency declaration ending on May 11, 2023, DHS is ending the community testing program on April 15.

Beginning April 16, 2023, Prevea will offer PCR COVID-19 testing, which will be billed to insurance, at select locations statewide. Appointments for COVID-19 testing can be made through MyPrevea. Additionally, test results will only be available in MyPrevea.

COVID-19 vaccinations

Prevea Health is providing COVID-19 vaccinations to all those currently eligible for vaccination as determined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Food and Drug Administration and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. You do not have to be a Prevea patient to receive COVID-19 vaccination through Prevea Health.

For existing Prevea Health patients:
  • If your child is already scheduled for a visit (such as a well-check) with their pediatrician or other primary care provider, a COVID-19 vaccination can be requested and provided at most appointment.
    • If you do not have an appointment already scheduled, please call your Prevea Health pediatrician or other Prevea Health primary care provider directly or use *MyPrevea to schedule an appointment for COVID-19 vaccination.

For those not established with a Prevea Health pediatrician or other primary care provider:
  • COVID-19 vaccinations will be available with Prevea Health pediatricians and other primary care providers at Prevea Health locations across Wisconsin, beginning July 6. You do not have to be an established patient with Prevea.

Dosage and administration of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine:
  • Children ages 6 months to 4 years receive one-tenth the dose used in the adult version
    • The first two doses are administered three to eight weeks apart, and a third dose follows at least eight weeks after the second.

Consenting and parent/guardians:
  • A parent/guardian must be present for patients presenting for a COVID-19 vaccine (all doses)
Dosage and administration Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine:
  • Children 5 through 11 years receive two doses (each one-third of the dose for adults).
    • If your child is turning 12 during the three weeks between doses one and two, we recommend waiting to vaccinate until they turn 12 so they can receive the greater dosage. Vaccine dosage does not vary by patient weight but by age on the day of vaccination.

  • A parent/guardian must be present for patients ages 5 to 11 years presenting for a COVID-19 vaccine (all doses).

Dosage and administration:
  • Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine:
    • Adolescents age 12 years and older receive two doses (each the same dosage as adults).

Consenting and parent/guardians:
  • A parent/guardian must be present for patients up to 15 years old presenting for a COVID-19 vaccine (all doses).
  • If a parent/guardian is not able to be present for a 16 and 17 year old presenting for a COVID-19, the  attached consent form must be signed and brought to both doses.

Pfizer vaccine - The Pfizer vaccine is a two-dose series. You will receive your second dose 21 days after your first dose. You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving your second dose.

Moderna vaccine - The Moderna vaccine is a two-dose series. You will receive your second dose 28 days after your first dose. You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving your second dose.

Johnson & Johnson vaccine - The Johnson and Johnson vaccine is a single dose vaccine. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine is a single dose vaccine. You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving your dose. As of May 6, 2022, Prevea has paused administration of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Novavax vaccine – The Novavax vaccine is a two-dose series. You will receive your second dose 3-8 weeks after your first dose. You are considered fully vaccinated AND up to date two weeks after final dose, since a booster is not recommended at this time.

  

Following the approval and recommendation of Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Prevea is offering COVID-19 booster shots for everyone ages 5 and older.

People ages 5 and older are eligible to receive the updated (also known as “bivalent”) boosters, which are the first Omicron-specific vaccines to be made available in the United States. These boosters target the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants, in addition to the original strain of COVID-19.

Prevea will begin administering updated Pfizer boosters to children ages 5 and older, beginning Monday, Oct. 31.

After receiving a two-dose series (also known as a primary series) of Pfizer, Moderna, some moderately or severely immunocompromised people should get an additional primary shot.
 

Eligibility includes:

  • If you received Pfizer, are age 5+ and moderately or severely immunocompromised, you should get an additional primary shot of Pfizer, given 28 days after 2nd shot.
  • If you received Moderna, are age 18+ and moderately or severely immunocompromised, you should get an additional primary shot of Moderna, given 28 days after 2nd shot.
  • If you received J&J, are age 18+ and moderately or severely immunocompromised, you should get an additional shot of either Pfizer or Moderna, given 28 days after initial shot
*MyPrevea is available as an app to download on to any smartphone or device, or at www.myprevea.com. It is accessible to anyone and available at no cost. You do not have to be a Prevea patient to access MyPrevea, although you must create an account. COVID-19 isolation and quarantine guide

Given what we currently know about COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended the following guidelines for isolation and quarantine.

COVID-19 Recovery Clinic

Prevea is now offering a COVID Recovery Clinic for individuals who continue to experience ongoing symptoms 14 days or longer after they initially tested positive for COVID-19.

COVID-19 vaccination record card

If you lose your COVID-19 vaccination record card, we are unable to issue a replacement card. However, there are still ways that you are able to provide documentation that you have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Pre-Travel Testing

Prevea Health now offers pre-travel COVID-19 antigen testing prior to travel. Results will be received on your MyPrevea account within 24 hours.

Schedule your COVID-19 test

In order to stop the spread, Prevea is holding community COVID-19 testing locations. You do not need to be a Prevea patient to receive a COVID-19 test from us. If you or someone you know needs a COVID test, schedule your appointment through MyPrevea.
